Join the Project

Upcoming New York Auditions

Our next round of auditions will be held in March 2012, and will be for our Monday/Wednesday Foster Care Cast. This program is open to any youth ages 15-20 who is in or who has been in foster care. No previous performing experience is necessary, whatsoever, and no one is ever accepted on the basis of talent.

About Auditions: Participants are selected through non-competitive group “auditions.” These “auditions” include completing a written survey, as well as engaging in improvisation, simple dancing, and singing. Criteria for participant selection include need for the program, availability, willingness to collaborate with a diverse group of young people, and concern for the various issues facing young people today. No one is chosen on the basis of talent or ability.

Our New York Programs

Saturday Program
The Saturday program is made up of 70-80 teenagers from all 5 boroughs of New York City. Any teenager (13-19 yrs) is welcome to audition.

  • Rehearsals: Participants meet on Saturdays from 10:30am to 5:30pm from early October through late June
  • Premiere: The Cast’s show premieres in late April
  • Auditions: August and September

After School Program
The After School program is made up of 60-70 teenagers from all 5 boroughs of New York City. Any teenager (13-19 yrs) is welcome to audition.

  • Rehearsals: Participants meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the after-school hours from October through June
  • Premiere: The Cast’s show premieres in early March
  • Auditions: August and September

Foster Care Program
The Foster Care program is made up of 20-30 New York City teenagers (15-20 yrs) who are currently in or have recently been in foster care. Learn more about this program.

  • Rehearsals: Participants meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the after-school hours from May through February
  • Premiere: The Cast’s show premieres in mid-November
  • Auditions: Agency auditions in February, March and April; Open auditions in March and April.
