The Possibility Project is currently holding auditions for youth – ages 15 to 21, who are or were in foster care – to be a part of our Foster Care Program. The auditions are held in groups and are non-competitive. They consist of simple acting, dancing, and singing activities. No one is chosen on the basis of talent. We are looking for youth who want to share their story with other youth, learn to change the world, and create an original musical from their lives and experiences.
The Foster Care Program will bring together up to 20 youth who will learn to build relationships across differences, examine oppression, resolve conflicts, engage in community action, and lead while undergoing training in acting, improvisation, movement, dancing, voice, singing, and playwriting. Together, this cast will write and then perform an original musical from their stories for four nights Off-Broadway in November 2024.
Rehearsals will take place at The Possibility Project at 377 5th Avenue (near 35th Street) on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 4:30pm-7:30pm starting June 4, 2024 and finishing on December 19, 2024.
If you are an agency or organization, you can schedule an audition for your youth at your site. Just send an email to Araya Manning or Paul Griffin at info@the-possibility-project.org.
