FOUR NIGHTS ONLY! May 10, 11, 12, 13 at 7:30pm!
The Riverside Theater, 91 Claremont Avenue in Manhattan
Fleeing her country’s dangers and arriving in New York City, Emperiatiz is nervous and excited to call America her new home. She is ready to learn a new culture, find a way to belong, and build a future of opportunity for herself and the child she dreams of having one day. She soon learns that things are not what they seem. She witnesses the lives of her peers as they grapple with family conflict, parental abuse, bullying, gender discrimination, relationship abuse, and violence, and wonders if she has made a mistake. Will Emperiatriz find refuge in her new city or will she and her peers be exiled to an uncertain future?
The Possibility Project is proud to present REFUGE, an original musical drama written and performed by a diverse group of youth from across NYC. For the past seven months, our young people have gathered every Saturday to discuss, debate, act, dance, and sing about the most serious issues they face in their lives. Soon, all of their hard work will be put on stage at The Riverside Theater, 91 Claremont on the UWS of Manhattan. To order tickets…
