In a city that never stops moving, Fey finds herself standing still–on the brink of a life she never anticipated. After learning she’s pregnant, she feels an urgent need to prepare, not just for motherhood, but for the world her child will inherit. As she wanders through New York City’s streets, witnessing racism, bullying, toxic relationships, and the reality of the lives of young people, Fey begins to unravel what it means to endure, to hope, and to rise above. Her journey becomes a mirror, reflecting not just the world she wants for her child, but the strength she must first find in herself. Will Fey discover a way to make the world better for her child and others, or will the city and its challenges prove to be too much?
The Possibility Project is proud to present hello, unexpected, an original musical drama written and performed by a diverse group court-involved youth in NYC. For the past six months, our young people have gathered every Monday and Wednesday after school to discuss, debate, act, dance, and sing about the most serious issues they face in their lives and their ideas for change. Soon, all of their hard work will be put on stage at the Theatre Two at Theatre Row, 410 W. 42nd Street at 9th Avenue in Manhattan. The nearest subways are the A, C, E, 1, 2, and 3.
